HMRC contacting work

Options
Hi,
I was declared bankrupt on 20th of February. I have just today received a letter from HMRC saying because it is too late I won't be on a NT tax code however they are going to contact my employer to find out the tax I paid from 20th of February to the 5th of April. They will then take this from my pay to give to my trustee.
I haven't told my employer I'm bankrupt. Will HMRC contact them and tell them I am bankrupt and want to know the tax paid or will they just look at my tax as I thought HMRC had access to this information already?

HMRC should have a record of the tax paid by you from the RTI payroll filing and should also be able to pay this tax direct to your trustee without having to contact your employer. Regardless, they should be able to request that information for reasons without having to divulge you are bankrupt.
May you find your sister soon Helli.
    Sleep well.
