"Dpensions" on deceased relatives bank statement. Need help tracing who they are.

Options
Hi
My uncle passed away at the start of the month and was receiving a monthly sum from "Dpensions". I can find no paperwork, the bank can give me no more details and the pension tracking service has drawn a blank. Any suggestions please?
Thank you
Naith

Monthly or 4-weekly? If the latter then could be Department of (Work and) Pensions i.e. State pension?
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

There is a Category D State pension but one would expect the usual DWP reference.
OP, if you ring the bank's bereavement team and explain the difficulty, perhaps they would be able to trace the originator of the payment?

Thank you for your thoughts. It is monthly, and not state pension. I have called the bank who say they have no more information than I can see on the bank statement (value of payment, from "Dpensions" and a reference number starting with a 6). Today I played a 3+ hour game of being passed around the Prudential (thank you for the pointer) system, only to end up with being told they have no record.

My plan now is to write to his bank (barclays) as I cannot believe they are not able to find who a payment is being sent from. Whilst I wait I will hope that the company making the payments will spot they have been returned (account closed) and then write to the current address where my auntie still lives.

Thank you again for all help offered

Just reread my post, the thank you for the prudential comment could come across as sarcastic, it was not intended that way! Genuinely grateful of all the assistance :)

and then write to the current address where my auntie still lives.

This is Uncle's widow? Is she able to indicate Uncle's previous employers? This might give a clue.

And re payment tracing - the bank can trace the originator of the payment.

Thank you xylophone. I have just penned a letter to the bank given how unhelpful the phone team were ("we can only see what you see on your statement")
I will be visiting my auntie (indeed uncles window) today with her shopping so will sit down with her and go through previous employers.
    Cheers again for your time

Unless it's a joint account with your auntie, the bank will return the payment to the originator 'account closed - deceased'.   So, they must know who to return it to.
