Cheap private prescriptions for the pill

Options
Hi all,

New to the board and looking for some advice. Anyone who has experience using online pharmacies feel free to weigh in!

I'm between GPs at the moment, and with all this coronavirus chaos that's going on, it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to get in at my local one any time soon. (Or maybe I could if I tried, but tbh I'd rather just let things settle down before I go through the motions of trying to sign up.)

So I've decided that I'm going to try and get the mini pill privately just to save the hassle for the time being. One of my friends mentioned that you can get it online now but all the pharmacies I've found so far aren't that cheap.

Anyone have any recommendations? (I don't mind paying around £15-20 but one I saw was £75 for 3 months, and that just seems ridiculous for something that's usually free)

Jaz

Can you not phone the Family Planning Clinic and get a prescription?

Superdrug have an Online Doctor section which allows you to order either a 3 month or 6 month supply. Cost starts at £19 but depends which brand you're on. I've not used the service myself but probably will if the current situation doesn't improve by the time I need a new prescription in July!

Lloydsparmacy has an online doctor service that I use. They do prescribe the mini pill - it is £30 for 6 months (£20 for 3 months) and they are very efficient. Been very happy with them so far
  • Hey Jaz, I use Treated.com for the pill and have been really happy with the service so far. Maybe have a look at their website and see if they have the brand you use? X

In case anyone is concerned about an existing NHS prescription for The Pill given the current situation, I had my annual review by phone today instead ofion person and prescription for mini pill renewed. No hassle at all.

Guidelines have been issued in relation to contraception access which in some cases extends the normal time frames and is still safe etc.

Added: I got 1 year issued instead of the normal 6 months, one repeat.
