First mortgage payment

Hi all,
I'm a FTB. We completed on Thursday last week, and I've since received a letter (and text) from my mortgage provider noting that my first mortgage payment will be debited on 8th May (and that it will be the normal amount). I'm a little surprised that it isn't going to start coming out in April. Is this normal? I certainly won't complain if this is the case, because I have another rent payment to make, but I'm a bit curious!
Thanks!

Depends on your lender. Some lenders need a clear 28 days before mortgage due date before debitting, if they dont get it then they wait until the month after. Some will be a normal payment, some will be a pretty big payment to account for the extra time.
So yes its normal, but everyone does it differently0 -
Good to know, thanks!0
