I phoned the council to confirm something put up in Facebook.

So from Wednesday, only the black bins will be emptied not the blue recycling or the brown food/garden waste.

You can now put your food waste into the black bin as long as it does not overload the bin.   I said I put all my rubbish in bags then in the bin and was told that was fine and put the food waste in bags too.

Black and Brown bins will now be collected.

• We continue to review our service delivery daily and whilst we are currently focusing our resources on collecting black bins, we are asking residents who have a brown bin, to present it for collection on their usual collection day.
• We want to stress that, at this time, it is still not possible to deliver a full waste collection service, but we will try to collect brown bins from as many homes as operationally possible in the coming days.
• If your brown bin was not collected on Wednesday 25 March, Thursday 26 March or Friday 27 March, please leave it at your usual collection point from Monday 30 March as our crews will be out across the city for ‘mop up’ collections, if resources allow.
• We would also ask that if possible, please share this update with neighbours who may not be online, either by text or phone call – particularly those who are older or more vulnerable.
• Please continue to present your black bin for collection on your usual collection day.
• We have temporarily suspended collection of blue bins. If possible, please continue to separate and store  your recyclable waste until our normal waste collection service resumes.

From Wednesday 1 April, normal collections will resume for black, brown and blue bins across the city.
