Perfume samples

I bought 2 expensive perfumes for Christmas gifts and asked the girl ( in Boots) if she had any samples. She said that the only time they get free samples now is when there's a new perfume launched. Is she correct?

I've never heard that before - sometimes they outright refuse to give them to you but they always have them in the draws beneath the product, no matter how old it is. You should've threatened to go and buy them from a rival department store

I've even been all over Milton Keynes with a voucher saying about a free sample of a famous singers' perfume and couldn't find one anywhere!!!!
Not amused and complained without success to the website.:mad:

DH wanted polo explorer for xmas but hadn't even smelt it when in boots the other day asked if they had a sample of it they didn't have that one but gave me about 10 others all mens must have been a bit dim didn't ask for any ladies might try next visit

It was during the 1000 points if you spend over £50 promotion so the counter was busy but that's no excuse for lying. (if she was) I was polite to her so it wasn't as if she witheld samples because I was rude. I think I'll email Boots and find out if their policy has changed.

I think they keep them for themselves and flog them on ebay!

they dont have the sample bottles now, they spray the perfume you are interested in onto a card for you....

once i was in Boots and i saw a customer ask the woman behind the perfume counter for a sample of a new tommy hilfiger perfume. i thought id wander over and ask the same person if i could have a sample of it too, to which she replied "we dont give out samples". i pointed out that i had seen her give out samples a couple minutes ago to another customer. im not sure why but this made her really angry and she snarled "we're not supposed to give out samples to just anyone! you have to buy the perfume first!" and then practically threw a sample of perfume at me. why would i want a sample of perfume i have already bought? the whole point of samples is to try new perfumes! and i saw that she had a million wee samples in that drawer anyway - wasnt like they were short of supplies. i hate asking for samples at perfume/beauty counters. theyre always so rude to me even when i hand them one of those official vouchers.

I was in Boots yesterday buying some perfume gift sets , my Son asked the assistant if she had any sample aftershaves and she replied that they had none left and offered to spray some on a card..he said it didn't matter he preferred to try the samples when he had a shower and wore it for a while before he could decide whether he liked it. I said I normally get mine from the internet .little sprays sent through the post, she then went into the drawer and gave him one Boss sample saying, oh there is one left! lol

I don't think that's true. Whenever they open the draws for samples they always have loads. But they do try and fob you off with a card instead of a bottle, g0d knows why since they're there to be given away!
