Agency

Options
Hello, we are being laid off on Friday. We will be paid the 80% of our wage .What I'm trying to find is,I'm contracted to work Monday to Friday on nights. We get 20% on top of our basic wage.So I'm going to lose the 20% shift allowance and then 20% of my basic wage. The question is can I work for agency on weekends as I'm not contracted to work them and will it affect the 80 % from the government.

If you work for them at the weekend, you are working for them, just at a different time.  That prevents receiving 80% for not doing any work for them.

Sorry - I thought you were working through the agency.  As long as your current employer isn't the one paying the 80% then it looks as though you can work elsewhere through an agency.

I have spoken to HR at our company and they are happy for me to do it as long as it's not in the time I would of been in work (2.15 am_11.15pm) Monday to Friday and if and they need me back. The thing I can't get a answer to is will affect the 80 %off the government. I have spoken HMRC, ACAS,and no one knows.

Probably nobody knows - but the 80% payment is meant to retain you in your employment  when we get back to something like normal.  So doing something which you could have done (ie different days) when you were working seems OK to me but I'm just a random stranger on an internet forum.

The government said you can work elsewhere while getting the 80%, can your current job contract overrule that?
