Remortgage - fix for life?

Hi. My current mortgage ends on 30 April. I need a £65k mortgage and have 12 years remaining, with house valued at £200k.  I'm tempted to get a 'fixed for lifetime'  mortgage and have seen some good offers, but is there any disadvantage of doing this that I might be missing? I may move house in the next couple of years so expect high penalties but could I just transfer the mortgage to the new house to avoid high fees? Alternatively, should I just get a 2 year fix instead? Grateful for any advice please. Thanks

What rates have you been offered? Any product fees attached?
Ensure that the product is portable to a new property.
  • Hi Thrugelmir. I can get a 1.99% life of mortgage rate with a £265 set-up fee.  I'm not sure if that is portable or not though.
