This morning I broke a front tooth - I think it's a white vertical filling (where a gold filling used to be years ago). Of course, my dental practice can't see me unless I'm in pain, they advised me to buy and use a temporary filling kit meanwhile.  I've been out and bought one, however it says that it's only to be used for 48 hours and the material has to be removed by a dentist.
I'm not too bothered about looking like Fagin until life normalizes though the back of the tooth is more of a worry as it's more open.
Do I go ahead and stuff some of the temporary filling in now, or wait awhile?  As it's not on a flat chewing surface and can't easily see to do the filling I'm not sure if I should do it.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

There will be no prospect of this filling being replaced in the near future unless you are in immense pain. Because dentists are at the highest risk from covid due to how they work and viral load , any treatment replacing fillings will only be done in specialist centres with full protective gear , and most of those centres are not fully operational yet and will be for only the most dire emergencies.

Use the temporary filling, it may stay in , it may not but if it's not giving pain , it's not a problem . Phone your own dentist for further advice.

Thanks for replying - and I fully realise that a filling won't happen for a while, it's what I expected.
