Active dried yeast......where to buy?

Active active dried yeast seems to be as rare as hens teeth at the moment. As a regular bread maker I am having difficulty finding any yeast in any supermarket. Luckily I have flour as that seems to be in short supply too. Amazon is sourcing yeast from China and that won’t arrive  until May.
Anyone have any ideas where to source in UK?

You could try making your own sourdough starter, though I understand it takes a few days to get it going. Also it looks like you can still buy sourdough starter on line so that's another possibility. If you have any bicarbonate of soda you could make soda bread.

I’ve always bought my yeast in MrT’s.  Never had a problem finding it in the baking aisle.  I did notice last weekend that L!dl had some, too.

Ebay did have it at about 3x normal price. I went into a local garden centre last week to buy fresh veg and as we were the only people in there had a browse round the deli type section, there to my total amazement were a few packs of Fermipan red at the normal £4.95. Girl told us they don't normally stock it but were getting in what they could. So it may be worth trying unusual places. None to be found in supermarkets round here!!

Husband has decided to start baking. I got some fresh yeast from a Swedish shop online and dried from a Jewish shop.

Ebay has Fermipan red dried yeast at around £8 for 500g delivered. That is a lot of yeast, but if you portion it up, it will keep in a properly sealed bag in the freezer. I bought one a week or so back, for when my tin runs out. It is supposed to be excellent yeast. Nearly £12 at Amazon! Make sure you select a UK supplier.
  • I know you asked for dried but if anyone is looking for yeast in any form I was told that if you take a tub to the bakery counter in tescos they are giving away fresh yeast. Worth asking.
