Wedding Balance Paid Early before Coronavirus

Hi, We are due to get married in August, our balance was not due to be paid until July 2020 but we wanted to get ahead of the game and paid off the FULL balance in March. In light of the covid-19 outbreak we find ourselves like everyone else in a difficult position financially. We have contacted the venue to see if they could return the balance and keep the deposit until the due date of July to help us out and they have point blank refused. There is nothing in the contract to cover this except cancellation which we are not looking to do, but just asking for some help in a very uncertain time. Does anyone know where we stand and whether its legal for them to keep that amount of money without providing a service etc? Thanks in advance
