hi does anyone out there have a pattern for a child leg warmers, my daughters 4 years and mad on dancing and thought they would make a fab stocking filler ( im not sure what she would make of them mind!)
anyway, i can knit the basics, but cant figure out how on earth you'd make them without sewing it up, any ideas gratefully received.
regards Karren

I made some of these a few months ago for my girls but I crocheted them.Sewing up was prevented because each row was slipstitched into the previous IYKWIM.But if you crochet and want the pattern I'll pm it to you

Cut off the arms of an old sweater of your daughters and hem. If you hem the armholes of the leftover sweater, you have a sweater vest.. or tank top, if you are old enough! Old, very old, Blue Peter tip.... circa 1980's funnily enough0

These ones aren't knitted, but a great idea!!

You'll need to knit legwarmers on 4 double pointed needles, like socks. Get some sock yarn which self patterns to make stripey ones.
You can get it on ebay.
I don't really think you'd need a pattern for legwarmers though.0 -
You could try using a short circular needle.
Cast on, then knit into the first cast on stitch to join into a circle and keep on knitting.
I will have a google for some patterns.
There are quite a few patterns coming up on a google search, knit 2, purl 2 appears to give a good look.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
I found loads of free knitting patterns for leg warmers - I'll have a look and come back with a link if i have any childrens sizes
re sewing up, if you knit on 2 needles you would just need to sew up the back seam, if you knit on 4 needles there would be no sewing... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Not posted in the section before so firstly hello
Probably people already do this and I am late to catch on but when sorting through last years winter clothes ready to ebay I found I had tights that would no longer fit my 2 year old but not good enough to ebay. I cut the feet off and the top part and make some funky legwarmers. Now that the colder weather is here it is a bit of extra warmth without where the trousers ride up and tonight my little one has them under her pajamas with her bed socks as she is always kicking off the covers and getting chilly. As I tend to have the same colours I like her in I now find that I have legwarmers that go nicely with her new tights to. The edges dont fray they just roll over nicely.
Hope someone finds this helpful0
