Kiss 1600 HD media player reduced to £150 at PC WORLD

I've been looking for a device to play my divx and various other formats including HD files with HDMI and DVD upscaling onto my HD TV, and this was the one I decided on. Having waited to save the £200 to buy it, I accidentally stumbled across this (I already had it in my Amazon basket for £200!) offer at PC World.
Reduced from £200 down to £150 :j
LINK

Basically it allows you to have your files on disc or on your PC (or network harddrive in my case) and will connect to those files wirelessly and stream them through the box onto your TV. The upscaling will improve the picture of your DVD's on a HD TV as well.
It does have a few issues with setting it up for wireless use, so not for the totally unsavvy network/computer types.
And to top it off, it's available for store collection, so my wife is picking it up after keep fit this evening!
I've got some episodes of Heroes in HD Divx to test it with !
I am in no way asociated with PCWorld, (I've worked in IT for about 12 years so can't believe I'm promoting something in that shop!)
But thought this was a good deal to warrant my first post in this section (considering I browse it nearly everyday)
It looks pretty nice as well;

Too big a post! Do some editing!!! :rolleyes:
These have been available at that price at Maplin for a couple of months. The DVD player is only SD in case anyone was wondering - it upscales the SD to 720p or 1080i, but most HDTVs do that for you anyway.
I looked at this one and went for a Freecom 350HD instead in the end (mainly so I could stream without tying up a PC and so I could use it as a NDAS drive), which can be bought for around £100 and then you can add an IDE drive of upto 750GB.
What swayed my choice in the end was the need to replace a NAS drive which didn't work with Vista.
I've changed the Firmware on mine to Mediagate, which is an identical machine but they are a few firmware upgrades ahead of Freecom.
I've not had many problems with mine - certainly a lot less than I had with the Pinnacle Showcenter it replaced.
None of these machines will play ALL video formats - you have to take your pick and choose the one which plays the formats you want, or download software to convert the video format if you find something you can't play.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
These Kiss players can be a bit problematic. A friend has one and it has been away for repair longer than he has had the use of it. At least a couple of months.0
