TUI 'amends' offer!

We have a package holiday booked with TUI to the Dominican Republic, due to depart 19 April. DOM Rep have banned flights from Europe until 16 April & FCO have advised "essential travel only" until that date.

TUI have said our holiday is "currently going ahead as planned", but they are offering all guests the opportunity to "free amends, to any holiday they have on sale".

What are TUI up to?  Surely the Dom Rep aren't likely to re-open their borders & allow European flights in after only 1 month of banning them, same with the UK Government lifting the "essential travel only" advice in the middle of a pandemic.

We don't particularly want to go now, & don't want to be pushed into a later date either?  Bit worried if we don't take up the current "amend" offer, we could end up obliged to go to Dom Rep as planned, in the middle of a pandemic when husband at 71 is supposed to be self-isolating for 12 weeks.

What am I not seeing here?
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

That they're keen to retain the sales and won't cancel by choice. And that they would rather keep your custom by allowing changes to your plans.

If the trip is still available, you would need to choose to cancel.  If it's withdrawn, you get a refund.
