I was laid off last Friday. I have calculated my pay will cover my next mortgage  at the end of  the month.
I have requested a payment holiday from Santander. It takes ten days to process.
The site is here and on their app and website. 
Why are people phoning when their call centres are understaffed and over stressed. ?

It took a few minutes with simple questions. I can now forget about one problem and move onto others.

It took me 2 hours and 40 minutes yesterday to get someone on the phone with another lender, so it's absolutely normal - see more here where it says "2 hours and 40 minutes":
