Remortgaging advice

My son needs to remortgage as his 5 year deal is coming to an end. He married last year but the house is still in his name only. Is there any advantage in his wife  becoming joint owner? Would that involve solicitors fees? Or  if he remortgages in his name only will they still take her salary into account? And if they move and buy a house together will it benefit them if she is them a first time buyer? They want to increase payments and reduce the mortgage length.

MAKES HER LIFE EARLIER IF HE WERE TO DIE

    DOESNT EVERYTHING?

    THEY WONT

    NO
They want to increase payments and reduce the mortgage length.
NO PROBLEM SUBJECT AFFORDABILITY, ALTHOUGH EASIER TO SIMPLY OVERPAY

    Good Morning,
In light of the economic situation in the UK and of course globally, is it the right time to remortgage?
Are banks and mortgage lenders increasing their criteria to lend?  In other words, is it more difficult to be accepted for a mortgage at the moment?
    Thank you.

Banks are still lending and I haven't noticed any increased criteria, with the rates as low as they are now I wouldn't hesitate to remortgage
