Helicopter currency drops

Hong Kong have every citizen $10K, Japan has done a similar thing a few times and other countries

now USA too is going to just create Trillions of units of USD out of thin air and do helicopter drops on the people.

If creating new currency out of thin air and giving to the people is such a good idea why not make it a million pounds each? And do it every month from now on like they are doing with the bankers

that would get the ships shipping again, get the trucks delivering again. A million each would fix the shortages of of goods and shortages of medical supplies and staff

you just need to create more currency out of thin air that would be able to create the medical facilities out of thin air as well

(sarcasm)

Superinflation. You make everyone a millionaire and the prices need to go up to compensate.
If you gave everyone £1k then it'll have almost no impact on inflation but will put a lot of money through the economy and keep a lot of people out of the poverty/debt cycle.

In the not too distant future I can see inflation becoming a handy tool to dilute some of the UK's debt problems, not a perfect solution, but very useful one

That's been the economic policy since the end of WW2.
  • If you give everyone a grand, some people will need to spend it on food and rent to just get by others will invest it to make more money.

Yes, but it's not going to be enough to let the landlord buy another BTL, or the rich to Hoover up any particularly exciting assets. It would be enough to allow a sick 0-hour employee take a few weeks off work to recover, or break the back of pay day loan debt.

Is it on the cards for the UK to follow these other countries with helicopter drops of currency on the people?

People don't need money. Just the things necessary to survive. The USA is a country of real extremes between the haves and have nots. The have nots lacking the very basics.

Depends on how much money it would be compared to what is in circulation, too much and we will see real big problems. I don't think it would happen, sounds like an administrative nightmare.

how much will UK citizens get?

i know an American guy living in Japan who got the Japanese helicopter drop and the USA one.

Trump said there will be many more, the next one will be thousands for every citizen even if living abroad
As much use as a chocolate fire guard really if a pandemic is raging, I suppose they could keep the online economy afloat?
