Mortgage dependant

Hi all,

I’m querying a question that I have been asked by my broker.

i am applying for a mortgage in just my name and I have dependants living with me, one of them is my partner who stays at home to look after our children. Our broker is asking question about my partner's (who is not on the mortgage application) finances, bank national insurance, loans or credit cards.

is this normal? It feels a little intrusive as she is not applying

thanks for any reply’s

yes it's normal to assess affordability. If your partner has no income then your income is supporting 2 adults and the children so they are all dependent on you (if debts then they need to know whether their income can service the debts or whether they will be paid from your income)
  • Thank you Caz3121, just wanted to make sure I wasn’t jiving out information that was not needed 🙂

Why isn't your partner named on the mortgage?
