More than one broker?

Hi. I am a first time buyer and a mortgage broker connected with the estate agents I am buying with has found me a mortgage in principle - albeit maybe not the best deal. She also charges are fee and I understand some brokers don't charge the applicant. I have another broker pestering me who is a little cheaper and doesn't charge a fee if I re-mortgage in 2 years time for example. Is it ok to make an appointment with another broker and get another mortgage in principle? Will this affect my credit score? I am so lost in the whole process!! Many thanks, Louise

Why do you feel your existing broker isn't giving you the best deal and how much is the fee they are charging in comparison with the other one?0

You are buying a home.
Choose the right broker, not the cheapest. The right broker may be the cheapest, but if it all hits the fan and there are problems, which broker would you want fighting your corner? Which broker do you have the most confidence in to make the application and not hit any problems?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. If it helps, most brokers start their journey within an estate agents as they are given clients on a regular basis. The better you get, then you move on to work for yourself as your reputation builds the business (you can read that as I don't like Estate Agent brokers much!)
And you have freedom of choice over who you use with some brokers not charging at all on either transaction.I am a mortgage broker and IFA.
