Appreciate I generalised more than a little bit in my comment. IT is a bit of a marginal case (I mean that in the sense it's a grey area, but a substantial one). Long - ish contracts with single client, often with exclusivity over the contractor . All IR35 red flags. Thankfully my work is project based so it becomes much easier to demonstrate (multiple concurrent clients, can substitute etc etc). The fact that permanent roles have replaced contractors in IT does show it is a grey area, as I say, whatever the rights or wrongs of that.

For completeness, it's only the new method where the client/agency decides IR35 that is being postponed.  IR35 continues to exist as it has in the past, but where the contractor themselves has to decide whether it applies and pay the "deemed payment" through their payroll accordingly.  Wouldn't want other readers to think IR35 has disappeared in all it's forms.
