I've used varifocals for years too, first pair I think I tripped on a kerb first time wearing them but that was the only problem. Specsavers is good if you have a problem, think you can return within three months. I was told some years ago its something you wear everyday so divide the cost by 365 x 2 and its not a lot of money!
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

I like my varifocals. No problem getting used to them from the time I had them first about 30 years ago. Lens price and quality has varied according to the frames I've chosen.

I've worn varifocals for 10+ years.  The only problem I've had (and also had with bifocals) is going down escalators - I find myself wanting to pitch forwards, obviously not a good idea.  I just hold on with both hands instead!  Another vote for Asda opticians - two pairs of varifocals, with thinned lenses, anti reflective and scratch resistant coating, optional tinting for an all-in price of £120, or one pair for £80.

Another vote for Asda opticians. I used to use them whilst in UK. Got Mum converted too, and saved an absolute fortune compared to a well known high street optician.

Thank you for the helpful replies. I’ll give them a go and will see if I have an Asda optician nearby as well.
