Please Help - Rental accommodation in Belfast (east or south) with a pet

Options
HI, I am looking for a place to rent but I cannot find anywhere that will accept pets.  I have a little house trained cat that does not ruin furniture (scratching posts are used) and does not poop or pee anywhere accept the litter tray.  I am a professional with a regular income who will be able to get references and pay up to £650pcm.  Can anyone please make a recommendation.  I would be willing to leave double a deposit in case of damage but I can't find anywhere that will accept pets, can you help?

    Not really helpful.
But have you informed the letting agents you are will to leave a double deposit?   Do they just say no straight away?    Do they know it is a cat or not a dog you have?

Okay, being naughty just don't mention the cat and move in.  Of course, if caught they could tell you to leave and then you tell them you are willing to double the deposit
  • Hi Donnac2558

Yes I have told them I am willing to pay double deposit, have regular inspections of the property and that it is a little cat.  So far 8 out of 8 letting agents have come back and said no.

Then the only thing is not to mention the cat.    But take photos of the inside of the property and if they come back you have a cat show no damage has been done.   Do this when you leave the property as well showing no damage.

I am wondering if any of the animal charities will know of landlords who allow cats?
  • As a landlord, I have only got negative experience of pets.
One tenant didn't let on she had a dog, when she moved out i had to replace all carpets and laminate flooring as the dog urinated and pooped everywhere.  Deposits don't even cover the half of the costs.
People like this ruin it for responsible people like you Bubble2020.
Another tenant also didn't declare a cat (suspect there were 2) When they left I had to remove the kitchen and tile the living room floor removing the laminate flooring as I couldn't get the cat pee smell out. It was also very pungent in the electric meter cupboard!!
I have 3 dogs and 2 cats myself in my own home, but not where a rental is concerned.
I'm also dismayed donnac2558 is encouraging you to lie about the cat.
