I have recently applied for a mortgage with Halifax, but am completely confused that they only asked for one pay slip for me and hubby. Is this normal. When will i likely need to submit bank statements and ID (i dont bank with them). TIA0

I applied for a mortgage with Halifax last week and was only asked for my latest payslip and to show my ID to a member of staff in a branch, that's it. They did a hard and soft credit search before instructing a valuation and calling me back to pay the product fee. They said they didn't need anything else. They didn't even need a letter from my parents stating they were gifting, not lending, me some money to put towards a deposit.
All my accounts (current/ISA/credit card) are with Halifax. I don't know what level of access the mortgage side has. I was told when I booked the appointment that the mortgage adviser wouldn't have any access to accounts. I have no idea if anybody else in the process would.

Ah ok, so that may be it then. I did read somewhere that Halifax were moving away from requesting bank statements as they now use other tools to check affordability etc. Was just a bit confused that no ID has been requested, but I suspect the solicitors will have all that at the point they send the mortgage offer through. My valuation has been booked for 26th August. Keeping fingers, toes and everything else crossed!!!0
