Hi all,
We made a payment to HMRC to "top up" a years missing contributions. (Cost about £650 for an extra £4.50 'ish per week, so a 3 year pay back).
This is the first time we have done this, so just wondering how long it takes to appear on your Gov.Gateway account, and do they send you any confirmation?
Many thanks for any replies

Took around six weeks last year when we paid for a year. Have just paid for another two years to get the maximum for my wife. No confirmation given I just checked on gateway every so often until it appeared. Payment was made online by faster payments. If you pay by cheque you can request a receipt.1

I phoned up after a couple of weeks of making my contribution to see when my SP forecast would be updated. They took details and said it would be processed within 3 or 5 working days, but I found it had been updated the following day. So I would chase them up as that seems to get things moving.Stubod said:Hi all,We made a payment to HMRC to "top up" a years missing contributions. Thanks for the feedback. I thought it was "automatic", so should appear within a couple of days....looks like I will have to wait a little while longer!

I made some contributions by cheque at the end of last year. Chq cashed 17 Dec, my NI record updated to reflect the contributions 17 Feb this year.

My experience when I purchased several years was it took 3-4 weeks before they cashed the cheque & another 1-2 months before the added years appeared in my NI record.0
