Asda didn’t deliver any substitutions!

Placed an online ASDA groceries order as an emergency while me and my 5 children are in isolation awaiting the results for coronavirus. One essential item was cigarettes for me and my partner (as you can imagine the stress in isolation with children lol). We’ve always been given substitutions when our usual brand is out of stock or unavailable. However my order arrived yesterday with no cigarettes at all or a substitute. Customer service told me over the phone that they never give substitutions for tobacco and cigarettes. So how have I had substitutions many times in the past and nowhere on their site or help section does it mention this???

No idea but they've told me that in the past and blamed stropy customers who complain about the substitute. Us smokers are obviously too fussy so they don't bother.

That aside so long as you weren't charged for them or did you have another money saving question?

I’m not that fussy I have always had similar substitutes in the past. Always order B&H sky blue Superkings and usually given either king size or blue instead. Only once I was given a different brand but it was very similar.
To be honest while I’m stuck in the house for another week after a stressful week already, anything would be better than nothing! Might seem stupid or not an essential to some but in my case I’m totally reliant on ASDA home delivery. My friends and family can’t exactly go to the shop for me in case we have it and pass it on. Especially as my mum has health issues and all my friends have kids so they don’t need this stress of isolation in their lives lol
All customer service offered was free delivery for a month lol that’s great but I have to order another delivery to include cigarettes and make sure I spend the minimum £40 they require

How did you see the delivery in if you are in isolation?
As Shel says above, any neighbours of friends that can buy you some and pop through your letterbox

Government advice is to do online shopping and theyve given instructions to stores apparently to prioritise those who are vulnerable and/or self isolating. Not sure what they are doing about the poor delivery guy other than hand washing and gel.

Do you have a friend who could get what you want and you pay them via bank transfer?  They could leave the items at your back door and you pick them up.

Unfortunately no I don’t have internet banking for that. I only have a basic cash account with the post office for my benefit payments. No online banking is available with this account. I forgot sugar on Fridays order too so just that and cigarettes is costing me another £40. Don’t even know what I’ll do about paying my bills on Monday if I can’t go to the post office for my money and to pay bills there too? My partner has been off work for a week and as he’s self employed he’s not entitled to any sick pay!

I hope that your post is a joke, and I’m just missing the point, but if not, there is no conceivable way that cigarettes can be considered essential, and this would seem an ideal opportunity to stop, especially if you are stuck in with children.

You also suggest elsewhere that you are a low income, so, again, if you are actually being serious here please think of your children.
