Dispicable.

Tesco Basics/Hearty Food Co. sweet and sour sauce 440g has been 40p or less for years now.

I took a pic of it, but the only improvement the new site makes (i.e. the ability to upload direct from your phone) doesn't work.
I really  despise this new site, and  will be posting on it as little as possible.

No co-incidence that the ALDI website main graphic is saying ... "The only way to get ALDI prices is to shop at ALDI" ... done with a bit more style than Tesco's "knocking" campaign.

I'm another not taken in by Tesco campaign. What I have found perplexing is that on the matched shop on the Aldi in store poster, they have tagliatelle. That's the only thing I've regularly found to be good value in Tesco (55p for 500g). Aldi almost never have any in stock and when it is it's not at that price.

Aldi's tagliatelle is their specially selected version made with a bronze die. Dearer than bog standard Tesco but much cheaper than the big brand equivalent.
  • I recently discovered Tesco had an 'Aldi price match' bread, which is the same price, but the Aldi one I have been buying for ages suddenly became 'doorstops' (thick sliced), so there are fewer slices.. but even before the current panic, Tesco would sell out by about 10:30.. then they were down to a few loves by 10, and this morning, they had all gone, by 8:45! I went to another Tesco, and they still had some, probably half the usual amount, at 9.
  • I got another Tesco loaf, today - and their slices have followed Aldi - thicker, and fewer.. Better check Lidl again (the Aldi I checked didn't have any - not even an empty space..) Now there's no benefit, there's no point going an extra 3 miles, to get to a Tesco that doesn't run out so early!
