Self employed tax

in Cutting tax
I only worked 13 weeks this year due to injury and didn’t receive any benefits. In the 13 weeks I worked between July 2019- December 2019 I earned £10,215 before tax. And as a self employed construction worker I paid 20% cis. Meaning I paid over £1700 in tax for 13 weeks. My question is does anyone know how much of this I will be able to reclaim in April? Also how do I go about it? Many thanks

Based on those figures, you should be able to claim all the tax back. To do so, just complete and submit your self assessment tax return asap after 6/4/20. There will, however, be some class 2 and class 4 NIC (approx £300) to pay which will be deducted from the tax refund. Make sure you claim all allowable expenses against the income to reduce the NIC cost.1
