Hi! Thanks to all for your help.
I spoke to the person responsible for hiring me this morning. He apologised for wording the email as he did. As Savvy Sue mentioned, they start the process and then I receive a link to complete on my end.
I don't know why the enhanced check, but my employer is basically the local council, in their adult education section. So I'm just waiting for the email to get the ball rolling.
I'm very excited about this job. I worked in higher education for 18 years and took voluntary severance a few months ago. I wanted a job where I could still work in education, but focused on teaching. So the wait until I can actually start working again is killing me
