Hi All
I want to get a jacket or coat (mens) to wear when outdoors in the winter in the UK, I get very cold and dont mind spending a bit of money to get the right one, I've been advised North Face with the down filling are very warm, any experience of these or any other recommendations?

Berghaus, Rab, North Face, Mountain Equipment, Helly Hansen, Fjallraven and Patagonia all good quality winter down jackets, go to an outdoor specialist shop that sells a range such as Cotswold Outdoor and try some on.1

Phdesigns.co.uk absolute best for warmth. Use their products for winter and extreme weather in Scotland.1

Thank you both, would you say down filling is definitely the way to go?

I prefer a feather/down filling though check the birds used. I think Siberian duck is the best but it's been a few years since I bought my jackets. If your down jacket is not waterproof treated the feathers will take longer to dry than synthetic filling.1

My NorthFace Nuptse puffa has been worn everyday since I bought it back in October. A crazy warm jacket, and looks good too! I know it is quite expensive and I was hesitant, but it will last quite a few winters and so I think it's worth it!0

Do coats have tog ratings? That's what I would go by, rather than fashion labels.
