Halifax mortgage hard search

Hi I’ve had a halifax mortgage hard credit search show up on my credit file today despite us not submitting full app yet, we reciebed aip last week and soft searches were done. Does this seem normal that a hard search has been done and will anymore be carried out?

100 percent sure we haven’t had full application submitted yet as still waiting on some documents to be submitted, any idea as why it might be

As I understand it, a company cannot run a 'hard' credit check without your express consent. If you have not consented to a full credit check, then they should not have run one. Have you got anything else by Halifax? Credit card? Bank account? Sofa loan? What documents are awaiting to be submitted? Are you going through a broker? Somewhere along the line you must have agreed to a full credit check.

Proof of deposit and partners payslips waiting to be submitted! I’m not sure we could have possibly signed something during one of the meetings with our broker but he advised no full hard check until full app made and we definitely haven’t made full app yet

If you have a broker then get in touch with them and see what they say? Have you submitted your payslips? Something has happened and the only one who can tell you what is your broker.

If you want the mortgage with them I’d a be a bit careful making too much fuss. If you complain too much they could decide not to proceed.One hard search imho isn’t going to make or break a mortgage application (yes if you had hard searches from many lenders in quick succession it would)

Documents get submitted after the application has been submitted and the hard credit search has been done. 

Are you sure your broker hasn’t submitted the application but just hasn’t sent over the docs to Halifax yet?

Checked with broker full app definitely not submitted we are doing it in a couple of days, now I’m worried as to why the hard search has been done and will they do another. The hard search has brought my score down by 30 points

Same thing happened with a friend(different lender tho) before a month. she is using a broker too
