Making crumpets

Hello my lovely mse community. I'm not buying any plastic this lent, which means I can't buy crumpets. So I need to make my own. Has anyone here done so? Did you use crumpet rings? (£9.99 for 4 from Lakelands) or something else? (Just apart from the cost I'm nervous of ordering anything online as I won't be able to see if it is packed in plastic). A 2008 thread here suggested 4-ring pineapple tins (I am rightly or wrongly ignoring the plastic coating on the inside of some cans).

, I was thinking that I already own a one egg frying pan, so I might experiment with that... today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

Giving up plastic for Lent is an inspired idea! Let us know how you get on.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So far so good, though Sunday's Lidl veg shop was 'interesting'. Cauliflower, aubergine, carrots and a swede. Fortunately my local chip shop serves them in cardboard. I am also not adverse to accepting free things that were in plastic if they would otherwise go to waste - today was an almost full carton of oat milk left in the fridge by a vegan colleague who has gone to America for 2 weeks. No-one else in the office drinks the stuff so it's now in my fridge and will be used for pancakesRosa_Damascena said:Giving up plastic for Lent is an inspired idea! Let us know how you get on.
Bought butter tonight which was in paper but couldn't get onions cos Mr S only had them in plastic nets - sadly we don't have a market in Dundee. The big challenge will be dog poo bags so may actually have to be lenient on that one as other ways I have thought of (e.g. flushing down the loo; flick with a stick to under hedges) seem to be even worse environmentally
Though i have now found this https://www.reusablenation.com/zero-waste-living/how-to-make-newspaper-dog-poo-bags - will ask my eco friend who has just done her masters on dog poo disposing thereof to see what she thinks 20*25 for 2025: 489 / 5001 -
Lidls sell those net bags for loose products. Ours has a little underself holder with them in packs of 2, and I mean little - blink and yyou would miss it! I find the bags very good and use them a lot. An added bonus is that the veg can breathe in them when they are stored, and don't go rotten/mouldy as fast as they would in the plastic.
