Applying for mortgage not on electoral roll

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help. I have 2 AIP's, one with Barclays and one with Halifax. Now I have found a house and an offer has been accepted I'm going with a broker instead. My issue is I've found out I'm not on the electoral roll. I gave my new address to the local council when I moved but my auntie has obviously not added me when she got the form through, something she said she thought she had done. My worry is now that I won't get a mortgage. I don't have my appointment until next week so really just want to put my mind at ease
TIA

No history on the electoral roll at all?

There is a recent thread on this where I gave a bigger answer, but basically it can be overcome. Some lenders will decline outright, some might make a meal of it and some will just accept it and not bat an eye.

  • I will take a look at that thread but thank you for your reply. I am hoping as I have had two AIP that I would be ok but I know this is not necessarily the case. I could kick myself for not realising this but having to wait now and not being able to see my broker any sooner is frustrating and I am now seriously worried it will fall through :(

Raise it with your broker when the time comes. Passing the DIP is only part of the process, there are certain lenders we would actively avoid if you were not on the electoral roll. It shouldnt be a deal breaker and shouldnt cost you any more but it just means a slightly reduced choice of lenders, nothing to worry about too much.
