How to ask dentist for a copy of Xrays?

Long story short, have a compromised amalgam filling that needs to be taken out. My usual dentist has completely disregarded my concerns regarding mercury and said they don't do safe amalgam removal, eg with rubber dam, oxygen mask etc, they just "drill it out"
So I found clinic that do and they say they'd need to see recent Xrays. Just had them taken today, so to avoid an extra dose of radiation how do I approach my dentist about giving me a copy (via email..?), or ask them to forward to this new dentist? I know it's all digital, saw them myself. Is there a fee and could they refuse? If anybody could advise I'd be soo grateful. Thank you

Just write to your dentist giving the email address , phone number and address of the dentist you want the x rays forwarding to. Providing they are digital there will be no charge and they cannot refuse.
Traditionally processed films are the property of the dentist and are expensive to copy so the best you might get in that case is a photo of the X-ray on a light box.1 -
Thanks so much brook2jack2, will do just that. Yes saw them on the screen myself within a few minutes of being taken, must be digital.0
