Tax rebate procedure

in Cutting tax
Some weeks ago, I made an online request to HMRC for repayment of some of the credit balance shown on my self-assessment tax account.
Since I had not received any further information, I telephoned today to be told that there was no record of any online request.
My advice to others in a similar situation would be to skip the online request and go straight on to the telephone - I am hoping that having spoken to a living breathing person I will be receiving the rebate a little sooner.

depends how big the refund is and what it is for. Did you get an estimated date over the phone?
- may end up being subject to security checks (add 1 - 3 months)
- will end up in a processing queue (add a few weeks to several months)0
