Interleave sheets for bulk freezing suggestions please

I want to freeze bacon, chicken breasts and other stuff in individual quantities rather than the pack I buy it in as I can't use it all in one go. I am seeking suggestions of what I can buy to place between the rashers etc so I can remove from the freezer and defrost only the quantity I need. Ideally something that is reuseable. I use to use the free food bags in the supermarket but as they are no longer available I need to buy something.

  • I use baking parchment.
  • I save the empty plastic bag inside cereal boxes specifically for this purpose. Cut into squares, it works perfectly!
I also save bread bags to reuse as sandwich bags, and also to store/ freeze garden produce.
I keep and reuse empty ziplock bags from ‘church’ cheese, for when I buy cheese from counters to keep fresh. HtH
  • I hoard those cereal bags when i get them as they are excellent for keeping bread nice! We don't really like breakfast cereal, and have porridge mostly (Co-op comes in plastic bags) but I ask others to save them for me. You can buy waxed paper, but it's not as easy to get as baking parchment

Freeze them individually on a sheet, then put in a bag. They shouldn't stick then.

Similar to the way I freeze items that I want to keep separate. Am a great lover of using baking trays lined with either parchment paper or reusable baking tray/oven liners, then bag when frozen. I bought a pack of 4 of the liners in Lidl years ago for very little, and they are still going strong.

Perhaps I have been unlucky as they stuck together in the bag after freezing separately.

We use Teflon baking sheets to freeze chicken pieces and other meat and then store them in Tupperware once frozen.

That's the word I was trying to think of when I posted above about baking liners...Teflon. Thank you.
Like you, I used to always use containers to store food, and I still do with some things, but ziplock bags are one of my favourites now.

I have that problem with ice cubes sometimes so I take the whole bag out of the freezer and drop it on the floor from a standing height.

I use baking parchment  to put in between things like home made burgers or lorne sausage but with other things as some posters have already said, freeze flat on a tray first then bag up once frozen solid. I don't always have space for a tray & so often use the clean lid of empty ice cream tubs (the not printed side)  so I can tuck a few things in tighter spaces to freeze before bagging up.This also saves me moving things around to get bigger trays in & helps me keep it all organised.
