Elderly relative

My elderly relative (84 years old) needs approx £30k worth of work doing to his house to bring it up to an acceptable living standard. He has no mortgage. What would be the best way to fund this work (I don't think anyone would give him a loan at his age so one family member may need to do this).

Equity release may be an option, but I would thoroughly look into the financial implications and possibly seek financial advice first.Life's a gamble, be lucky!0

I think equity release is going to be his best option as well.0

Could he not just sell the property and move into more suitable accommodation ?2

What savings and income does he have? Not nearly enough info to answer your question. No free lunch, and no free laptop
