I am looking to purchase this for myself and my husband. Not sure which company is the best. Have heard Sun Life with Parky is not good as if you miss a payment it doesn't pay out. Want to make sure I get a reputable company. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Do you have serious health problems which significantly reduce your life expectancy and would make getting a standard life insurance policy difficult or expensive?
If not, I would avoid 'over 50s' plans altogether - most people could get bettwe value from a standard life insurance policy (fixed term or whole of life) which has a premium based on your own medical history.
As over 50s plans do not ask questions about your medical history the premiums have to based on the assumption that your health is poor - so more or less by definition if your health is reasonable or good for your age, they will be poor value.5 -

Over 50s life insurance plans are an option of last resort. They are for people who need life cover but have medical conditions that prevent them from getting proper life assurance.
So, are you and your husband unable to get life assurance and need to fall back to over 50s life insurance?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.2 -
Regular saver accounts provide better value for money compared to these special "Over 50s" life term policies, for like 90% of people.1

While most contributors to this part of the Forum would probably share my own views that over 50's plans are for most people expensive, with better value to be found elsewhere. these plans seem nonetheless to be popular.I would think that many of those who do take out the plans may perhaps feel reluctant to venture out to seek an insurance product or seek advice. Advertising by leaflet or television with a freephone number and no medical questions asked seems so easy. A free gift too!! I can understand why some will reach for the phone.1

Without a bit more information from you, Lez, we're all grasping at straws here. If it's not impertinent, how old are you, what do you want the cover for, ideally, how much would you like over how many years, and would your health preclude a straightforward application for level term insurance now ???0
