Early termination fee

I am considering leaving my job and my car scheme at work has an early termination fee clause. I am worried they may take this from my final pay cheque, leaving me uanable to pay rent or bills or buy food. As a BR, can they do this?

I’d say so, yes, as you will have incurred it after you were bankrupt, Going bankrupt is not a carte blanche for expenses that you incur in the future.0

I dont mind paying it as part of a payment plan, however, as I gave up the job and car prior to bankruptcy, surely it will be included0

So your not bankrupt yet ?

No, just wondering what would happen. Apologies. Yet to make a decision0

Seems weird if they took my last pay cheque as I'd have no money for the month. Seems like I'm in this job for the rest of time...haha0

Looking at other posts it looks like you work for the NHS, I would imagine they have a department (part of HR) you could talk too. While they will want people to adhere to scheme rules, there is almost certainly some clause or scheme to help staff in genuine financial difficulty, unless your leaving under a cloud they'll likely be keen for you to leave happy and maybe return, rather than leave in financial distress
