Equita

Hi all i had a letter attached to my door when i returned from work from an enforcement officer saying he will be back to remove goods. I called him (john foster) to hear a man i wouldnt think would be named john foster. He then told me i had until tomorrow to pay or he was coming with a van for my goods. I am disabled and have mental health problems, i am now stressed and shaking as i also have 2 children with special needs in my home. I have managed to get the money from my dad but i wont be able to get it into the bank until thursday 1 day past his date. I have sent him a txt telling him i am disabled and vulnerable and that i dont feel safe handing over that amount of money without knowing for definate that he is who he says he is. I havent heard anything back. I am just wondering if anyone knows where i stand as this was his only visit and i had only 1 letter last week from equita (didnt call them as found out my dad has cancer and have been distracted taking him to hospital and my mental health has been bad with all the extra stress)

This is a highly worrying post, and exactly the kind of vulnerability premium that MSE Martin campaigns hard against. Firstly, find someone who can hold your hand and fight your corner with you.

Equita is a firm of bailiffs and you need some clear legal advice, try the National Debt Advice website as a first step.. If you have time this evening, take a look at the forum IVA / DRO thread. You may find relocating your post there useful.

No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.

On the subject of trusting if they are genuine and not a scam? Do you owe money to anyone?

There are better parts of this forum being advice on subject like this as you have a few experts about. May be post the same info in the bankruptcy part of here. As they will have been through similar and may be able to advise better.

Did they say about a warrant etc?
as I do not believe they can just come in your home and take stuff with out certain documents.

even when they can take things, they can only take certain items. Eg not a fridge.
  • They have said nothing about a warrant. I have contacted an advise service and am waiting for them to call me back today. My dad is loaning me the money so i can pay it but just not in 24 hours which is how long he has said i have.
