I have an interview next week for an admin assistant job (working front of house). The interview has a twenty minute slot. No tests either. Anyone got any tips on what sort of questions they ask please? I hate interviews and I get very nervous.

The person specifications states:

Be able to provide information to staff and patients when required.

Enthusiasm, initiate and positive approach to career and personal development.

Knowledge of administrative systems and procedures.

Able to move and handle safely without causing harm to themselves or others

Thanks in advance!

  • Do some research on the Trust itself and, if applicable, the hospital (and department) you would be working in.

Be aware of confidentiality and equalities issues.
Signature removed for peace of mind
  • Make sure you understand GDPR and data handling as well.  They will ask you to relate your experiences of where you have had to think on your feet as well as how you would handle conflict from my experience.  Good luck!!
  • Be interested/enthusiastic in the NHS and the Trust you'd be joining.  When I recruit people, whatever the role, however junior (or not), I want them to be supportive of our services.  I know it's a cliché but every role really does contribute towards helping people.

"please give an example of a time you did X and what was the outcome" where X is one of the things asked for in the advert

"what do you understand by the Trusts vision and values"
  • As above: at least know the Trust’s values
