Would someone be able to clarify or point me towards some information which might clarify pension carry over and how this works?

Good, clear explanation of carry forward here: https://www.pensionbee.com/pensions-explained/pension-contributions/pension-carry-forward-rule2

Thanks for the link.
I understand how this works in theory but in practice how does one go about implementing it.
E.g. I pay £5k nett into a SIPP. This will automatically receive the 20% basic rate and i claim the remaining 20% HR. Is that it? No further communication about the carry forward?
Or if I were to increase my Sal Sac from say £40k pa to £50k pa for next tax year, would I need to communicate that £10k of this was carry over?0
