Do I tell my creditors?

I've taken the plunge and filed for bankruptcy today..
I'm currently receiving calls/letters daily from my my creditors for missed payments..
I have answered one call but refused to confirm my identity as the bank couldn't prove it was them that was calling.. (I'm sure it was though)
Now should I contact them and say I have filed for bankruptcy? (What if it's refused?)
What to do?
Thanks for your advice.

You should hear if it's been approved in a couple of days.
The O.R will notify your creditors but this can take up to 8 weeks depending on their workload .so once it's approved just quote them your BR number if they contact you.0 -

Really hoping it won't be rejected..0 -
I filed late on a Sunday evening and received bankruptcy order about 11am on the Monday! If creditors contact you just send them a copy of the Order. Have had no problems with them.1

The chances of bankruptcy not being approved are extremely low so I wouldn't worry about that. I wouldn't go out of your way to notify them as they will find out eventually. If any of them call you or you receive any letters, just let them know you've filed for bankruptcy and they will make a note of it and leave you alone. When I went bankrupt it felt nice, as I started answering the phone and checking post because it no longer mattered. Those that I did tell I had declared bankrupt were nice about it and said they'd make a note and stop contacting other than sending statements. All told the truth as other than the odd letter that was probably already working it's way through the post I received nothing but the statements.I may be wrong sometimes, I learn a little every time I'm corrected.1

Thanks guys..
Now I'm in a predicament..
I have been paying into a work shares scheme for the last 5 years, I won't own the shares until September, but I have no access to the monies paid in, nor can I find the relevant paperwork for this..
The amount paid in is around £3500.
Share price making it around £8000.
I currently owe £42000.
I couldn't put this on the bankruptcy form as it wouldn't let me progress without all the correct information.
I'm not trying to hide it and need to declare it, can this be done when speaking to the OR?0 -
Yes when you have your phone interview just explain1

As luvchocolate has mentioned you can explain it when having the OR interivew, I had to add extra creditors at that point as I had a couple where I couldn't find the relevant reference numbers.
Chances are, once the shares are avaialble they will likely be used towards your debts.
