Contracted Out

Hello everyone, I’m trying to get some clarity on how being contracted out will effect my state pension.

I have worked in the NHS since September 1987 paying in & still contributing, to what became the 1995 salary scheme. I guess that would mean I have been contracted out through the majority of my working life.
I went on my Yougov State Pension page and it is showing I will get about £160ish (can’t remember exact amount) per week from when I am 67 with a full NI history going back to the early 80’s.
Does this seem right or is the Yougov more of a rough guesstimate & nearer my retirement date will they then look into my employment history, factor in the contracting out, & things will change.
Does seem like a tidy sum on top of my DB pension forecast, so not yet counting those chickens.
Many thanks for any replies

<koff> YouGov aren't part of the government, and they don't have anything to do with pensions (even private ones.) They're private polling company.

    Anyway.
On the correct site (gov.uk), which I assume you actually used, you should be seeing something like the following if you've been contracted out (on this page, after you've logged in):

Note the link at the bottom under "You've been in a contracted-out pension scheme" - the fact that you have has no effect on the numbers higher up on the page. If you click that link, ignore any numbers you see on there, (specifically, ignore the COPE estimate - it's irrelevant to the numbers on this page and gets neither added nor subtracted anywhere here.)

In this example, up to 5th Apr 19 (first bar), an entitlement of £149.09 has already been accrued (in today's figures,) and takes account of the fact that contracting out has occurred.
Additionally, another 5 years (second bar) of full NI contributions will result in the maximum state pension permissible here.

    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries
