my solicitor has given himself 2 weeks off lucky him!
Me and my partner are first time buyers, hoping to complete end of March. Should we be worried at all the solicitor isn’t around?

41 days away? Probably not. However, you should ask the firm you are paying what is happening in the interim.I am a mortgage broker. He should have someone covering his work while on holiday, assuming he is part of a firm and not a one man operation.
Where have you got to with the conveyancing?Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
Unlikely that your solicitor is working alone. What stage have your reached in the process?0

Well, nothing really happens for the first few weeks as the sellers solicitors need to receive sales particulars and instructions from the seller, do ID checks and draft the contract.
Your solicitor has to wait for ID from you, sales particulars from estate agent, then wait to receive the draft contact from sellers solicitors, money for searches from you, mortgage offer from the lender.

As above really. We’re at the end of week 3 after instructing a solicitor and have only just got the mortgage deed through. Still awaiting search results. Still awaiting replies from sellers solicitor. Ours is off on holiday from tomorrow for a week and the suggestion is very much don’t stress, there will likely still be outstanding action to complete on the sellers side when he returns. Started on Feb 1st, and he expects to complete sometime in mid April if there are no hold ups from the other two in our chain. If you’ve just started, you have at least the two weeks he is off to wait for things to progress naturally. Might be worth getting the searches sent to the council if they can before they go as that part can take a few weeks and may delay you if not started at the beginning.0
