Thanks all for the comments. I am going to have a look at Monzo and see if this will work for us. I think if we have a quiet month on the big spending for the house stuff we should be in a better position by next payday and then we can start budgeting properly. as a start we have another account at Lloyds so i will use this for the food shopping and that way i can see how much of the 600 we actually spend on food shopping0

Good luck @gardian8 it looks as though you're n a good position but just need to track down where the extra money is going and stem the flow
Personal Loan: £10,265
Next: £851 -
So it was payday for my GF today. She gets paid earlier than me, even though we work for the same company.
I have paid back the £210 we moved from the gifted money so that is back up to 6k again. I have paid off £100 off the credit card and paid my car tax of £145. I am hoping to have a surplus at the end of this month which we can pay off the credit card too.
I have moved the shopping budget (£600) over to the other bank account we have with Lloyds so we can use that for household things for the month and we should be able to see what we are spending on this for a change.
Looking ahead we need to buy some new curtains and her car needs 4 new tyres. That should hopefully be it for the "other" spends for the month. See how things go...0
