Trains to Manchester Airport cancelled

My train from Manchester Piccadilly to Manchester Airport was cancelled last Wednesday (as were all trains for about 90 minutes due to a broken down train I believe). I can obviously claim the delay repay from Northern but I had to get an Uber else I was going to obviously miss my flight. Can I claim for my £23 taxi as well? As this was an expense caused by the train delays which I wouldn't normally have had to pay.

If your train was cancelled and you chose not to travel, you can claim a full refund of the ticket with no fees. If your journey started somewhere other than Manchester Piccadilly and it was only the last leg that was cancelled then you'd only get a part refund and it may be more advantageous to go for the delay-repay option, which should be a full refund as the delay was more than 1 hour. You cannot additionally claim a refund for your taxi, unfortunately. You would need travel insurance of some sort for that.0

You can't claim delay repay for a service you didn't catch.
For an abandoned journey due to failure to provide a service (even if you are part way through the journey) you get a full refund from the seller, not the train operator.
You cannot claim for the taxi as the train operator should arrange alternative transport.0 -
Were the trams not running either?

^^
The trams take forever to get to Manchester Airport as we unfortunately found out last year. Roughly 25 stops from Victoria/Piccadilly and 50-60 minute journey time.0
