Spotted some decorations today - Gulp!

Has anyone spotted any decorations yet? On my way home I saw two houses decorated to the hilt. Both looked great but I did think... "Crikey, it's still November"

Having said that, I'm looking forward to checking out the pics of decos and trees that will (hopefully) be posted here over the next few weeks.

Oh, and Merry Christmas! :D

I am in Florida at present and all our neighbours have their Christmas trees up and fully dressed, large inflatables in the front gardens and their houses lit up like the Griswolds. They put them up for Thanksgiving (last Thursday) and take them down after New Year!! Thank goodness, we return to England on 14 December!!

Here in London I saw my first Christmas lights nearly 3 weeks ago (admittedly, just a string of white twinkly lights around a window, but even so...!! ;)). However, since then I've noticed more lights almost daily around the area where I live, including about half a dozen trees which are now visible in windows. :D

Tonight was the best yet, though. A maisonette on the 5th and 6th floor of a block of flats, with a huge amount outside flashing lights (santa climbing up a ladder and another going down a chimney, santa face, santa on a train, a snowman, a huge tree, stars, reindeer, snowflakes - and these were just the ones I can remember from driving past!) plastered to the outside of their home. The whole of their area of the building was covered - there was hardly any room between them, they were almost touching in places! Goodness knows how they managed to secure them all up that high (I wouldn't want to be the one hanging outside 6 floors up, trying to secure them to the walls...!!). :p

I'm a Sheltered Scheme Manager (for older and vulnerable people in the community) and so far two of my tenants have got their trees and lights up. I think it helps to brighten up their lives if they're feeling lonely - but heaven help us when they take them down again in January and that psychological boost is removed.

hi i agree, there's nothing wrong with putting up some cheery decs a couple of weeks early if it makes people happy, after all isn't that what it's all about?
