Over a million families could be missing out on tax-free childcare - MSE News
Over a million families could be missing out £1,000s per year in Government childcare help, as a new report for HMRC admits that take-up of the Tax-Free Childcare scheme has been lower than anticipated...
It would help if the TFC info on this website was accurate - people may think they don't qualify because they don't earn £131 a week. To qualify, you (and your partner, if you have one) need to be working and earning a minimum of £131 a week from April – this is the equivalent of 16 hours/week at the national minimum wage for 25-year-olds or over. Each parent also needs to earn less than £100,000 a year. Firstly, the threshold depends on your age. Secondly, you only need to reasonably expect to earn above the threshold. And finally, it isn't a weekly threshold - it is based on an entitlement period. So as long as you expect to earn more than £1707.68 over your entitlement period (assuming you have a normal length period set and it is a 13 week period) then you will qualify. IQ
