I want strawberry plants :)

Well after laughing at my tv shopping channel addicted friend who has just bought a strawberry planter and plants, I decided that I would get a small planter for my daughter as her 'garden project'. (So, sorry friend and yes I've copied you
)
Anyway, a look round the garden centres yesterday produced zilch, no plants. Is there a particular time that strawberry plants are only available for, or a particular place they should be bought from?
Also is there a particular type of strawberry that is pretty much guaranteed to turn out ok? I'd like my daughter's first attempt to bear fruit (pun intended).
Lastly is there an online place that I could try?
Thanks peeps. :beer:

I got one from our local florist in Sheffield a couple of weeks ago - you are maybe a little bit late but there still should be some around. Try local flower shops and hardware shops.

I've never tried these ones, but you've given me the prompt I need to get some more this year....
In fact these are the guys I got mine from a few years ago, and I still have a few of them now....even after moving place and forgetting to water them etc....oh and leaving them out during the winter....never really knew what to do with them.....

I know https://www.bakker.co.uk have them. However, a quick glance at their webpage shows that they are not shipping until September which is a better time for planting and they have removed all their plant pages. It might be worth ordering a free catalogue though. I can recommend them, I got my hydrangeas there earlier this year."Life is like a game of cards.
