As an observation, I can tell you that as someone with a number of small DB schemes, I have found myself moving from I wish I'd cashed in my deferred DB scheme that's capped at a miserly CPI/2.5% a few years ago, to I will really appreciate the security of having my daily spending requirements covered by guaranteed income in retirement. So I think the closer one gets to retirement, the more one appreciates the value of the guaranteed index-linked income a DB scheme offers. That change in view happened around the age of 50 and coincided with my readings on here so maybe increasing my pension knowledge and widening my views.

Thank you for all your replies, I always knew these pensions were valuable and we have no intentions or interest whatsoever in even looking into cashing them in early. Mine was earn't very early in my working life before going self employed ( trades) twenty years ago. Just very fortunate to enter the workplace when I did.0
